New Zealand, November 15-26, 2011
Drumming Immersion Adventure Backpacking
with Reid DeFever

10 days of Drumming and backpacking across the wonderous countryside of New Zealand's 'North Island' Lake Taupo, Mt Tauhara, volcanoes, Tongariro Mountain crossing, majestic waterfalls, jungle, thermal rivers, hot springs.

Plus extra
opportunies like flying a glider, bungee jumping, jet boating and skydiving!
A new rhythmsong each day, first we sing then to the drum.
By days end this rhythm will BE a part of you, this is the absolute best way to learn.  With no distractions from home such as driving, e-mail, phones, appointments and work you will be surprised how much more quickly you learn.

While out exploring Nature we will play while we hike, drum session at lunch and evening drumming by fire or the full moon!

(The night sky is very different in the Southern Hemisphere, lots of 'new' consellations)

Camping will be broken up every 2-3 days with 1 day hotel stay and opportunity to re-stock food, showers etc. (though we will always be near water!)

At tours end we perform together as a group at a local venue to show off your new skills!
Dancers welcome!
Hone your skills to live drumming for 12 days this trip for you!

The language of music and dance are very one and the same when it comes to comunicating feeling and exchange of ideas.
(dance instructor? have a group that would like to join us? please contact me directly!)

Drum and Chant led by 25 year master percussioinist Reid DeFever
Learn percussion rhythms of Brazil, Africa, Cuba, India, Asia & Persia!

Have fun, explore and expand your skills!!
Live it, Be it, Learn by doing, learn with the best.

I highly recommend these drums. 1. they very lightweight. 2. slings on your back while hiking. 3. you can play and walk unlike a djembe. 4. VERY important they are not effected by moisture, we will be in jungle rain showers, lakes, rivers, steam, and ocean air. (A wet djembe doesn't work for long!!) 5. That is what I will beplaying!!
